On behalf of Michigan’s Supreme Court, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your public service and to offer a few words of encouragement during this health crisis.
I know that many of you have had to deal with really difficult changes and events in not only your work life, but also within your families or your own personal health over the past couple months. I want you to know that all of us justices of the Michigan Supreme Court are thinking about all of you, and Michigan’s judicial leadership is working so hard to find ways to support you through this challenging time.
The way we do business may never be the same. In part, this is because of the virus. But a larger part is because the virus awakened a resiliency in our courts, and we discovered we are capable of doing so many things in new ways. Our success in responding to the virus allows us to envision a future with greater opportunities for serving the public in ways we had not previously imagined.
From conducting meetings and hearings by Zoom, to learning to use new remote technology, to finding new ways to connect with our customers, you are finding new ways of doing business. However, one thing remains the same – the Michigan families who have custody, parenting time, and child support as part of their lives still need you. And, we need you. You are the eyes and ears of the family courts, and your work is invaluable.
Thank you, again, for your service to the courts and to the public.
Chief Justice Bridget Mary McCormack
