Lindsay Poetz joined the Michigan Supreme Court’s Friend of the Court Bureau (FOCB) in October. Lindsay earned her undergraduate degree from Baylor University and her Master’s Degree in Education and Employment Law from Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad College of Law. After a 17-year career teaching public school, Lindsay obtained her Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law.
During law school, Lindsay focused on family law and labor law. She was a recipient of the Peggy Browning Fellowship and spent a summer clerking for the American Federation of Teachers in Washington, D.C. In addition, she was a clinician for the Chance at Childhood legal clinic, where she conducted custody investigations for the Shiawassee FOC office, testified in custody hearings, completed guardianship reviews for the 44th Circuit Court in Livingston County, and monitored supervised parenting time at the IMPACT Center. She received the Chance at Childhood Jurisprudence Award for her efforts. Lindsay previously spent two years as a law clerk for FOCB, and is now returning to FOCB as a management analyst after spending two years in the private sector.
