Michigan Judicial Institute (MJI),
in collaboration with the Friend of the Court Bureau (FOCB), is pleased to
again offer a three-day seminar for friend of the court (FOC) staff. You may register to attend
day one, two, three, or all three days.
Day 1 is designed for new(er) FOC staff. It will include presentations
on:
- Functions
of the Friend of the Court Office;
- *Professionalism
and Ethics;
- Child
Support Formula Overview; and
- The Basics of Custody, Parenting Time, and Child Support Enforcement.
Days 2 and 3 of the seminar are designed for all FOC staff and will
include general sessions and workshops on a variety of topics, including:
- *FOCB
Domestic Violence Manual and Mandated Reporting;
- Recreational
and Medical Marihuana Update: Impact on Domestic Relations;
- Personal
Safety and Security;
- Advanced
Child Support workshops including Imputation and Determining Income of the
Self-Employed;
- Custody
and Parenting Time workshops including Enforcement, Interviewing &
Report Writing, and Testifying;
- Intergovernmental;
- *Vicarious/Secondary
Trauma
- *Immigration
and the Impact on the Family Division;
- *Customer
Service;
- *Adverse
Childhood Experiences (ACES); and
- *Implicit Bias.
*These sessions also count toward
the ContractPerformance Standards (CPS) customer service training requirement.
To gain the CPS credit, attendees must sign in at the session and log their
attendance after the conference in the Learning
Management System (LMS).
