The Michigan Family Support Council (MFSC) is a non-profit organization established in 1982 and consists of members who work in child support and understand Michigan's needs for professional development training and program involvement to support Michigan families.

The MFSC is divided into four organizational regions (see map below). Every spring, each region hosts a one-day training conference as a supplement to the annual MFSC three-day fall conference held at Boyne Mountain in October.

2019 Spring Conferences
The spring regional conferences were held as follows:
- May 9, 2019 – Central Michigan Family Support Council – D’Mar Banquet & Conference Center, Owosso
- May 10, 2019 – Southeast Michigan Family Support Council – MacRay Harbor, Harrison Twp.
- May 16, 2019 – Southwest Michigan Family Support Council – The Silo, Allegan
- May 21, 2019 – Northern Michigan Family Support Council – Treetops Resort, Gaylord.
Hot topics included legislative updates, child support updates from IV-D Director Erin Frisch and Program Development Division Manager Michael Adrian, and Self-Service Reporting. Other high-interest topics included fatherhood initiatives, Contract Performance Standards (CPS), the Learning Management System, and the MiCSES CAPS screen.
Erin Frisch also shared news that she has received a
promotion to Chief Deputy Director for Opportunity for Michigan Department of
Health and Human Services. In this role, she will be responsible for crafting
and implementing the Department’s anti-poverty agenda and effectively
integrating and coordinating services with a focus on customer experience. Her
new position will oversee the Children’s Services Agency and the Field
Operations Administration.
Approximately 400 IV-D staff attended the spring conferences!
2019 Fall Conference
The 37th annual MFSC Training Conference is being
held again this year at Boyne Mountain, October 2-4, 2019. Registration
is now open on the MFSC website, and a draft agenda will be posted to the MFSC
website as soon as it becomes available. Breakout sessions will include some
topics presented in the spring conferences, plus many new topics. The fall conference also offers a MiCSES/Data
Warehouse learning lab, partner networking, workshops that qualify for CPS
training credit, and evening entertainment.
If you know of a colleague in the program deserving of an
award at the fall conference, be sure to nominate him or her on the MFSC Awards
Nomination page no later than August 28, 2019.
If your office budget does not allow for conference
attendance this year, a limited number of $200 scholarships are available by application.
Scholarship applications are due no later than August 1, 2019.

Amy Gilmore has been employed with the Office of Child Support since
April 2003, starting as a Child Support Specialist. She is now the Performance
Management Specialist with the Planning, Evaluation, and Analysis Unit. She
lives in Lansing with her husband, two sons, and two cats.
